Slowing the progression of nearsightedness in children — protecting their long-term eye health.
Myopia, or nearsightedness, affects one in two people worldwide and is becoming increasingly common in children. It occurs when the eye is longer than normal from front to back, or when the cornea is too steeply curved — causing distant objects to appear blurry while close objects remain clear.
While myopia is easily corrected with glasses or contact lenses, the condition itself carries long-term health risks. Higher levels of myopia are associated with increased risk of retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts, and myopic macular degeneration later in life.
